Atmospheric Christmas Wonderlands
From mid-November until December 26, Vienna's impressive squares are once again transformed into magical Christmas markets. The scent of Christmas baking, hot punch, fir branches and caramelized almonds intensify the Advent atmosphere. Shopping streets decorated with festive lights put the city in a jolly pre-Christmas mood. Here are our highlights of this year's Vienna Christmas market calendar.
In the city center
Christmas Market on Rathausplatz
A perfect Christmas Wonderland takes place at the Rathausplatz. The traditional Christmas market offers gifts, Christmas tree decorations, arts and crafts, culinary delights, sweets and warming drinks. An ice rink invites to skate through the romantically illuminated Christmas park.

Christmas Village on Maria-Theresien-Platz
Not far from Rathausplatz is the Christmas village on Maria-Theresien-Platz, between the Kunsthistorisches Museum and the Naturhistorisches Museum. Around 70 booths with traditional arts and crafts and original gift ideas can be found here during Advent.

Altwiener Christkindlmarkt on the Freyung
The Altwiener Christkindlmarkt on the Freyung in the city center is committed to tradition. The first Christmas market was held here as early as 1772, and today you can buy handicrafts, glass decorations, traditional nativity scenes and ceramics. Festive Advent music performances from 4 pm.

The Christmas village on Stephansplatz focuses on contemplation and tradition, with around 40 booths around St. Stephen's Cathedral offering high-quality products from Austria.

Schönbrunn Palace Christmas Market
The Christmas market in front of Schönbrunn Palace enchants with its imperial setting. The atmospheric market offers traditional crafts, handmade Christmas decorations, an ice skating rink, curling rinks and a wide range of activities for children, including a carousel, Ferris wheel, children's train and the traditional craft workshop.

Belvedere Palace Christmas Village
The Christmas village at Belvedere Palace impresses visitors with its baroque setting. The unique palace park offers space for this tranquil Christmas market with fine arts and crafts and culinary delights.

Christmas Village on the Campus of the University
The romantic Christmas village on the campus of the University of Vienna is also a popular meeting place in the run-up to Christmas, especially for students. With a children's train and nostalgic carousel, the Christmas village on campus is also very popular with families. Two curling rinks are also available.

Art Advent on Karlsplatz
